The first ever bench fight
Benchfighting is a thrilling new contact sport invented by
Oscar Gillespie
and
Ben Meghreblian
at a party, combining the skill, finesse and quickness of fencing with the brute force of heavyweight boxing. The contestants must simply use their bench to make the other contestant drop their bench. Several manoeuvers may be performed to this end, including the jab, hook and uppercut, and notably the 'run away', mastered by Ben. Expect a Java simulation shortly.
The sport is rapidly increasing in popularity due to its simplicity, no special ring is needed, the first bout was actually won in a garden in Kingston (by Oscar), and the weapons are available in most public parks although you may want to do this when there are no police persons present.
There are obviously risks associated with the sport, in part because it is a very stupid thing to do, another being the danger of benchus headus, a very nasty disposition. Still, it is great fun so feel free to try it yourself, it is easy to pick up (perhaps in contrast to the bench) and a terrific crowd puller.
"I loved it!"
Thanks to the guys @ wotw for this great award ;P
